Deep in lush nature
For Vittel® natural mineral water, it all begins with rainwater falling onto the lush, rich natural environment of the Vittel basin. This is a place that is full of life, brimming with a unique energy and where all kinds of plant and animal species peacefully co-exist. The water then sinks steadily deep down into the ground, being filtered by the earth as it goes, before embarking on a long voyage through the region’s distinctive rocks.
An epic journey through the Vosges rock
The adventure continues in the depths of Vittel’s hydromineral basin, which is home to various aquifers created by the Vittel fault: a natural “geological accident” that occurred millions of years ago in the foothills of the Vosges Hills.
Here, a few dozen metres below the surface, the water comes into contact with sedimentary and limestone rock, naturally taking on minerals and acquiring its unique properties to become Vittel® Grande Source natural mineral water. Several years go by before the pressure along the fault naturally creates an artesian well, with the water vigorously spurting up to the surface.
The final stop on the journey is bottling at source, which is key to preserving the water’s purity.
A unique mineral composition
Natural mineral water must come from an underground pool with a unique and consistent mineral salt composition. The water acquires its mineral content over a period of years as it flows on its long journey and is filtered through the rock, and it is this which gives it a unique identity and taste, leaving it marked by the land it comes from.
As it flows past the Vosges Mountain rock, Vittel® natural mineral water takes on minerals that are essential for our bodies. It’s the perfect way to rehydrate any time!
Did you know? Drinking one litre of Vittel® natural mineral water a day provides your body with 240 mg of calcium, or 30% of the recommended daily intake*.
A natural source of vitality
Vittel® natural mineral water has been a natural source of vitality* for millennia. It refreshes the body and mind with each mouthful and helps you make the most of every moment!
Do you know all the ways water benefits the body? It rehydrates tissue, regulates body temperature, transports nutrients and oxygen, removes waste and more. The body is constantly getting rid of and renewing its 60% water content! And this is where hydration comes in: drinking and eating (food contains water too!) are natural things we do during the day that compensate for water loss. We actually all lose almost 2.5 litres of water every day and this volume increases if we’re doing physical activity, or if it's very hot!
Water is the only drink the body needs and the ideal way to rehydrate day-to-day for both adults (1.5 litres a day) and children (1.1 litres a day).
Protecting the spring
Protecting the land means quality water: we’re all in this together!
*Water helps to maintain normal physical and cognitive functions. Drink at least two litres of water a day from any safe source.
